When it comes to fantasy football, it is pretty easy to know who the best running backs in the NFL are. After all, just about every fantasy football website has a list of who to go after. However, once the initial stars are taken, the focus is on getting those mid-tier guys. Here is a look at some of the best options to go after from the 3rd round on.
The passing game for the Detroit Lions gets a lot of publicity, but Reggie Bush is somebody who will need to balance everything out. He is a very solid fantasy football option, even if he is not considered to be a top-tier guy any longer. Not only is he a running back who should be able to go over 1000 yards on the ground, but he could also pick up around 500 receiving yards. He probably won’t last past the 4th round at the latest, so grab him somewhat early.
There are obviously some people who are a little bit scared off when it comes to Andre Ellington. He is a very talented running back, but staying healthy is a bit of an issue for him in general. Bruce Arians is probably going to commit to him as the featured running back this season thanks to the retirement of Rashard Mendenhall. He makes an excellent 4th rounder if he is around, or any round after that.
For the 1st time in his career, Gerhart is going to have a chance to be a featured running back. The Jacksonville Jaguars are not going to be a very good team this year, but that does not mean that Gerhart can’t be reliable in fantasy football. He is a bit of an unknown, so waiting a little while longer might be the best way to go. Take him in the 5th or 6th round if at all possible.
