John Wall was moved to tears in a post game interview Monday night as he talked about Miyah Telemaque-Nelson who passed away from cancer away earlier that day. Maya was only 6-years-old when she passed away from Burkitt’s Lymphoma.
The Washington Wizard’s guard met Miyah in early March and started a social media campaign to get her to meet Nicki Minaj. Wall has been playing the season with her name on her shoes and communicating with her when ever he had the opportunity including a FaceTime two weeks ago.

A moment of silence was held in honor of Telemaque-Nelson before Monday’s two overtime game that was won in part by Wall’s 26 points and 17 assists.
In that post game interview, Wall said that “It’s just tough to see a little kid who fights so hard against cancer and can’t beat it… this game is for her.”
